VidsDrop is a local desktop app for creator video backup, captions, permitted media archives, and simple clip cutting. The VidsDrop Companion browser extension helps detect media streams in your browser and send selected items to the local desktop app.
VidsDrop does not upload your video URLs, cookies, downloaded files, captions, or browsing data to a VidsDrop cloud service. The app runs locally on your computer.
The browser extension may read page URLs, media stream URLs, page titles, Referer headers, Cookie headers, Origin headers, User-Agent headers, and temporary diagnostic logs so it can send selected media requests to the local VidsDrop app.
When you choose to send a stream, the extension sends the selected URL and related request headers to VidsDrop on your own computer at 127.0.0.1. It does not sell this data or send it to third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
The extension uses Chrome storage to temporarily remember detected streams and diagnostic logs. This data stays in your browser profile and can be cleared by removing the extension or clearing the log from the extension popup.
Purchases are handled by Gumroad. Payment details are processed by Gumroad, not by the VidsDrop browser extension.
Use VidsDrop only for content you own, have permission to download, or are allowed to archive. The browser extension excludes YouTube and Google video services.
